Process

The creative process is the true definition of abstract art. Julie Fjendbo Jørgensen lets out what Freud describes as unconsciousness. She pushes against a conscious evaluation of her paintings before it is finished by keeping a close distance to the canvas.

Style

The paintings have a recognizable style as the artist engages with a mix of colours and media. Together with the dimensions, Julie Fjendbo Jørgensen’s paintings evoke and transmit strong emotions. Each of them is owerful in its own way. The emotions can vary from softness, vulnerability to rough protective layers represented on the surface.

Inspiration

Julie Fjendbo Jørgensen’s work is inspired by her youth memories when she was exposed to Nordic as well as the international art scene. It included artists such as Joan Miró, Asger Jorn and other members of the avant-garde movement CoBrA. However, her own creative process has begun in 2015 when she suffered from an isolated concussion. The necessary journey to recovery provided her with access to many new emotions. It has initiated a journey of a self-exploration, which continues to be presented through paintings. As a professional sociologist, Julie Fjendbo Jørgensen’s art can serve as a key unlocking our own self-explorative path.
